I have been a member of CCS(NA) since 1999 . I was introduced to Clan Campbell at the Richmond Games by John Albert Campbell (deceased) and his lovely wife Donna. After joining the society, I have served as Virginia Deputy Commissioner, Virginia State Commissioner, and Region 3 Commissioner. Currently, I hold the positions of Region 3 Commissioner Emeritus and Trustee. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland (FSAScot)

Dan McBryde Campbell

I was born in northwest Georgia, near Atlanta, and moved to the Richmond, Virginia area as a young boy with my family. After high school, I joined the US Army. After completing training, Airborne/Jump school, I took a little time off, then served tours in Vietnam as a Small Team Special Operations member, then became a leader of one of the teams. As a result of combat service, I was awarded Purple Hearts and numerous other military awards and recognitions. I am an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

After returning home, I met my wife Jan. We have one daughter who lives in Alaska with her husband and three children and have enjoyed annual trips over the past 20 years. Her husband is a retired decorated combat veteran from both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. We have lived in Hanover County, VA since 1974, a history-rich area for both Revolutionary and Civil Wars. We enjoy genealogy and have traced our ancestors from the 16th century and share our knowledge of American and Scots history, advising visitors at Games and in the community by sharing resources and helpful hints for tracing their own ancestry.

I started my career as a Police Patrol Officer for Hanover County, Virginia. During my many years in law enforcement, I received extensive higher level education in specialized public safety courses, served as the Supervisor for the Hostage Negotiation Teams, Criminal Investigator, Range Master, Armorer, Law Enforcement Training Officer for the Police Academy, Field Training Officer for new personnel, and in the administrative and training units for the county. In addition, when Hanover County piloted the new DARE curriculum in schools, I presented the programs in elementary, middle and high school classrooms. During this time I also served the community as a firefighter with Hanover County Fire & EMS, where I achieved the rank of District Chief and Eastern County Duty Chief. After 30 years of serving Hanover County in public safety, I retired and took a little time off, then went to work for Avis/Budget Corporation for 13 years, handling special fleet assignments for the company. I am now fully retired and proudly serving our CCSNA and CCEF, and look forward to many more years of service to our Society.
