Principles of Good Governance

The Clan Campbell Society (North America) is committed to the highest standards of nonprofit management. To ensure the longevity of our heritage and the trust of our members, the Board of Trustees and Executive Council adhere to these foundational principles:

1. Mission & Programmatic Oversight The Board ensures that the Society’s activities remain consistent with our original 1927 CCAA charitable and educational mandate. We are committed to the effective use of resources to further our long-term mission of preserving and promoting Clan Campbell heritage, history, DNA and genealogical research for future generations.

2. Fiduciary Responsibility Leadership acts as dedicated stewards of the Society’s assets, maintaining rigorous financial oversight. We ensure continuous compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, specifically those governing our jurisdiction of incorporation, to protect the Society’s tax-exempt status and financial health.

3. Conflict of Interest & Ethics The Board maintains a robust ethical culture, ensuring all decisions are made solely in the best interest of the Society. This is upheld through a formal, strictly enforced Conflict of Interest Policy required of all officers, directors, and key volunteers to prevent personal or professional gain from influencing organizational decisions.

4. Transparency & Accountability The Society provides members with full, accurate information regarding its governance and operations. This includes the timely reporting of membership votes and the transparent use of established procedures for urgent or extraordinary administrative matters, ensuring that leadership remains answerable to the kinsmen we serve.

5. Governance Integrity We maintain perpetual "Good Standing" through professional registered representation and consistent adherence to our Bylaws and the IRS regulatory framework. By prioritizing organizational stability over individual roles, we ensure the Society remains a permanent and professionally managed institution.
